Masters

Our Masters Division is on the up as many of our  Senior lady and gent anglers reach the 50 year age group for Masters. Young at heart and fit on the water, we have some serious experience in this division.

2023 Masters Nationals

Five river sectors awaited our Masters anglers in Barkly East, EC this year for the 2023 Masters Nationals held in late November. Conditions were pretty tough in the popular stream fishing area of Barkly, renowned for its high catch rates. The Langkloof and Diepsloot Rivers levels were very low, but still produced some decent numbers off some beats in the early sessions. Three sectors were fished on the Kraai river. Going into to the final session points were really close, with one placing point in it between KZN A and Free State as the final results were announced and KZN taking the Team Trophy for the third consecutive year.

Jacques Marais returned to competition fly fishing now in the Masters division, having an outstanding championship and taking the Individual Gold medal. Follow the link for overall results

2023 Masters Protea Team

2023 saw the 8th Fips-Mouche Masters World Championship being hosted together with the 3rd Ladies Worlds in Kamloops, BC Canada. Despite giving it all on the waters, our Masters did not achieve the better result they were after. There is never losing in this game... knowledge and experience is always the winner. That together with fishing in such spectacular scenery as found in the Kamloops area, catching new species, and the camaraderie that is synonymous with the participation in a Masters Championship makes it all worthwhile.

Thank you to the many raffle ticket supporters and Sponsors Xplorer  & Sapmok  for their valued contributions to our Masters Team
